Team STWO takes Geneva by Storm; work hard and play hard

The last weekend of May saw team STWO head out to Geneva, Switzerland for a busy yet fun filled weekend, including lots of fashion, hot models, multiple selfies being taken, turn up moments all weekend and of course plenty of work getting done.

We flew from London as a team leaving the dreary grey weather behind to be welcomed by sunshine as soon as we touched down in Geneva. And that’s when the fun work began. Checked in and ready to enjoy Geneva we headed to the venue where Africa Fashion Show Geneva would be held. There waiting for us were the designers and models ready to get the show on the road. The first thing we had to overcome was the language barrier, French vs English; but we found ourselves impromptu translators from our presenter/interviewer Melvine to one of the male models helping us keep our communication flowing.

First up we had a run through of each model’s walk. Hmm, this is where Julius was most certainly in his element while I sat next to him cherishing the fact that I’d watched and paid attention to Tyra Banks’ critiques on America’s Next Top Model how models should walk and hold themselves – meant I could join in the critiquing and actually make sense. Runway walks done it was onto fittings which were hectic and something of an organised fashionable mess but we got through it, with models having final looks and all the designers happy.

After a long day of travelling to working we decided that instead of turning down we should turn up just a little – have a few drinks, check out our new city. After getting back to our hotel to freshen up we did just that, getting a tram from hotel heading into the centre of the city. Now I have to mention that it was a bank holiday so we figured it would be quite lively and easy to find somewhere to chill – boy were we wrong.Turns out Geneva is a quaint quiet little city that’s not all about turning up on bank holidays like us Brits are. But regardless we had a laugh, bonded as we trekked through the streets looking for a bar. We did find one even though it was closing time after one drink, then we moved on to what seemed to be the red light district of Geneva; we decided it might be a good idea to head back to the hotel right about then.

Day two saw the real action begin, going through choreography with the models, planning the evening down to the hour, having the beautiful location fully set up and then finally lights, camera – action. The first day of AFSG was crazy to say the least, but it turned out well – more than well, considering how frantic and almost last minute everything had been. But then pressure brings out the best in some of us. After a crazy 12 hour day we most definitely wanted to turn up. It was a Friday; we’d pulled off a successful show – seemed like logical enough reasons. We headed out to the club, did a couple of shots, twerked and drank some more before turning in at our hotel in preparation for the final day of the event.

Day three had us at the gorgeous Mandarin Oriental Hotel Geneva which was the venue of the exclusive Africa Fashion Show Geneva Gala. With new outfits to be put together and a new designer joining the line-up it was back to fittings, hair and make-up, new choreography and rehearsals before the show could begin, making it a good thing none of us were hangover (apparently we have a good work hard and play hard balance). A bigger show than the last with less time to play with Team STWO made sure we rallied and got everything done and on point, as well as including some extra work in on the side –look out for that cheeky editorial photo shoot- the final AFSG show was most definitely a success. This could only mean it was time to celebrate! We headed out with the models on our last night, got super turnt up and somehow managed to still make our flight the next day.
